Petersburg is in Rensselaer County, near the Vermont and Massachusetts borders. About 30 minutes from Pittsfield, MA, 20 minutes from Bennington, VT, and an hour from Albany.

Where we work

Hickory Hill Fiber Farm is in Petersburg, NY, in Rensselaer County near the Vermont and Massachusetts borders. We sell fiber, yarn, and finished goods online and at the farm stand to customers all over upstate New York and western New England.

For shearing and on-farm services, we primarily work in Rensselaer County and the surrounding region. That includes the Berkshires around Pittsfield, MA, southern Vermont near Bennington and Brattleboro, and the Capital Region around Troy and Albany. If you are not sure whether we can reach you, just call.

Farm tours are available to visitors from anywhere. We have had groups come out from Troy, Albany, Pittsfield, and Bennington. If you are planning a class trip, community outing, or just want to bring your family out to see the animals, call ahead and we will set something up.

Common questions

What kind of fiber do you sell?

We sell raw llama fiber, giant angora rabbit fiber, and colored mohair from our angora goats. We also have handspun yarn and finished fiber goods. All of it comes from animals raised right here on the farm in Petersburg.

Can I visit the farm?

Yes, we encourage people to come by. Just call ahead so we know to expect you. We do farm tours for schools, nursing homes, libraries, and community groups too. Give us a call at (518) 858-8502 to set something up.

How much does shearing cost?

Barrel Cut is $30, Extended Barrel Cut is $45, and Full Body Cut is $60. Travel is available. Give us a call to talk through what you need.

Do you have animals for sale?

We occasionally have llamas, giant angora rabbits, and colored angora goats for sale. Check the shop or get in touch and we will let you know what is available.

How does breeding work?

We offer stud service from our show-quality herdsires with a live birth guarantee. Boarding for your female is included during the breeding period. Contact us to ask about current herdsire availability and bloodlines.
