In memory of Pat

Pat founded Hickory Hill Fiber Farm in Petersburg around 1986 and 1987, and built it into something that has outlasted any easy description. It was a working farm, yes, and a serious one. But it was also a place where people came to learn, to be around animals they wouldn't otherwise know, and to reconnect with where things come from.

The herd Pat started is still here. The animals John, Paul and Todd care for today trace their lines back to that beginning. The farm stand, the shearing, the community connections, the visits from schools and neighbors, all of it has roots in what Pat put in place.

There's no good way to summarize a life or a legacy. The farm continuing is its own kind of tribute.

Animals we've loved and lost

Some animals leave a mark that doesn't go away. This is where we remember them.

A farm that's been going for nearly forty years has a lot of history in it. Some of it lives in the pastures and the fiber. Some of it lives in the people and animals who aren't here anymore but whose presence shaped what the place is today.

We're glad to keep that memory alive.
